Rob Cooper is Chief Executive of Forbes Ventures. He is an expert in financial services risk management and regulation with 15 years experience in the sector. Through Janus VC he is an investor in start-up firms that seek to disrupt traditional professional services through the use of technology. This includes investments in the legal, financial and property sectors including wealth management, peer to peer lending, debt crowdfunding, legal services outsourcing, and property assets.
Rob is a director of, and major shareholder in, Quanta Capital Limited which holds an equity position in Forbes Ventures.
Rob is also an approved person under the Financial Conduct Authority regime and the Solicitors Regulatory Authority regime, and holds a number of board positions in firms in which Janus VC and Quanta Capital Limited have invested.
It is Rob’s expertise in professional services, technology and business automation which provides Forbes Ventures with the relevant expertise for its investment focus.
Peter Moss is the Non-Executive Chairman of Forbes Ventures. He has over 35 years’ experience in the financial markets across a broad range of transactions. He is a Principal at London-based Praetorium Capital Ltd., a strategic investor and partner in various CleanTech, Consumer Technology, Oil & Gas and Real Estate businesses. Mr. Moss also sits on the Boards of investment companies GreenFin Energy BV and GreenFin Hydrogen BV. Since 2015, he has been the Corporate Development Officer at Energy Investment Company BV, a Dutch-based Company which provides an integrated platform for the design, installation, financing and management of gas-to-power solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa and other emerging markets.
Since 2004, he has been an Independent Director of The Revelation Special Situations Fund Ltd., a Bermuda-based investment manager. He is a former Chairman of Tengri Resources, an AIM-listed mining concern with interests in Kyrgyzstan and its predecessor, Mentum, Inc. He is a former member of the Advisory Committee of Max Petroleum PLC, an AIM-listed oil and gas E&P firm with interests in Kazakhstan. From 2006-2011 he served as Max’s Senior VP for Corporate Development and was instrumental in forming an investor group which provided the capital for the Company’s IPO on AIM in 2005 and subsequent capital raisings. He is a former CEO of AIM-listed Zoltav Resources, an upstream oil and gas company with assets in Russia and a former Director of NYSE-Listed Evergreen Energy Inc., a coal technology company.
From 2004-2011, he was a Non-Executive Director of AIM-listed Crosby Asset Management Ltd. Mr. Moss has held senior positions with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette, Commerzbank and GFI Group Inc., with an emphasis in sales of risk and capital structure arbitrage to hedge funds and business development. In 2000, he was honored as a “Founding Father” of Albourne Village, the alternative investment online community. Mr. Moss studied Geology and Economics at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a graduate of Deerfield Academy in Deerfield Massachusetts.
CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Nigel Quinton is Chief Financial Officer of Forbes Ventures. He is an experienced finance professional that has held senior finance positions in Building societies, wealth management and specialist lending firms. He has been the Chief Executive of two building societies and more recently has been advising Financial Services firms, including a new banking start-up, on financial and risk management.
Nigel has held significant sector wide roles including Chairman of the Northern Association of Building Societies. His specialisms include all matters financial, governance, risk, lending, treasury and business strategy.
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
Igor Zjalić is Chief Investment Officer of Forbes. Prior to joining Forbes, Igor worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Rates for a large European asset management firm, directly managing USD 8 billion of fixed income assets. Igor started his career as an Interest Rates and Inflation derivatives trader, holding senior roles in top US and European investment banks. Subsequently, Igor ran an investment advisory firm concentrating on Global Macro strategies as well as direct investments. Igor brings a great deal of expertise in market finance, corporate finance and financial structuring to the operating team.
Igor holds an MBA degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago, USA) and an MSc degree in Mathematical Finance from Cass Business School (London, UK). He is a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (London, UK) and co-Chairman of Progressive Initiative Foundation, a UK charity dedicated to the advancement of higher education. He also serves as an Advisory Board Member of Cass Business School (London, UK). Igor is fluent in English, French, Greek and Serbian, with basic knowledge of Russian and Spanish.
Kirk Kashefi is a Non-Executive Director of Forbes Ventures, and a practising barrister at the independent bar of England & Wales who is specialised in handling a broad range of highly complex, multi-jurisdictional, commercial and financial litigation, as well as having specific expertise on cases involving corporate governance and business ethics. He came to the independent bar after gaining years of experience in top-tier international law firms. He has also spent time as in-house counsel at a major international investment bank and a fund management firm.
Kirk has also had a parallel career in international relations in which capacity he spent six years as an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
